| Changes to the current policy for CHT screening in preterm infantsThe revised policy for CHT screening in preterm infants will be implemented in all four UK countries on 1st April 2012. Gateway number http://www.dh.gov.uk/health/2012/02/the-week-issue-234/ The revised policy is based on gestational age criteria and includes babies born at less than 32 weeks gestation (less than or equal to 31+6 days) and repeat testing at 28 days postnatal age, counting date of birth as day 0, or discharge home, whichever is the sooner. The CHT Preterm Repeat Policy Implementation Group has developed a range of education and training resources and a transition plan to support decommissioning the old policy and implementing the new. Regional antenatal and child health screening teams are coordinating the implementation in England. Until the implementation date, the existing policy of repeat testing when the baby reaches the equivalent of 36 weeks gestational age remains.Regular updates will be posted on this website. |
