The scope of the implementation guidance is focused on the implementation of the newborn status codes and results to parents letter into existing systems.

These standard operating procedures aim to support CHRDs with the implementation of newborn blood spot screening results codes and communicating newborn blood spot screening results, by letter generated automatically by the CHRD system, to parents of babies who have normal screening results for all conditions tested.

The scope starts when the CHRD is notified of births and transfer/movements in and ends when the normal newborn screening blood spot results letter is sent to parents.The aim is to assure role clarification, quality and consistency in practice.
